What Schreibly actually does

A real-time writing assistant that respects the variant you're writing in, the formality you've chosen, and the privacy you're entitled to.

Real-time check

It moves with your cursor, not after it.

Schreibly runs as you type — in a browser extension on most sites you write in, in the web app, and (soon) in desktop apps for Windows and macOS.

  • Inline underlines for spelling, grammar, and style issues
  • Hover (or tap) to see the explanation
  • One-click accept; per-document ignore

Five regional variants

Your variant, not an averaged one.

English isn't one language and German certainly isn't. Schreibly supports five regional variants out of the box:

  • en-GB — British English. Treats "organise" as correct, not as a US misspelling.
  • en-US — American English. Treats "organize" the same way.
  • de-DE — Germany. Federal Duden orthography, ß where the rules call for it.
  • de-AT — Austria. Jänner, not Januar; Erdäpfel, not Kartoffeln, where the writer intends them.
  • de-CH — Switzerland. Always ss, never ß. Swiss orthography respected end-to-end.

Writing profiles

Formality and domain, not just spelling.

The same sentence is correct in casual chat and wrong in a contract. Schreibly lets you pick:

  • Formality — Sie/du in German; tone in English.
  • Domain — business, academic, casual.
  • Tone — neutral, friendly, direct, diplomatic.
  • Per-document settings — your contract profile doesn't bleed into your email.
🧭
Privacy first

Your text is for checking — not training.

We transmit your text to our AI provider(s) only to perform the check. We do not use your text to train models without your explicit consent.

  • Caching is short-lived and used only to speed up repeat checks
  • You can delete your account and associated data on request
  • See our Privacy Policy for the full picture
