Refund Policy
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
This Refund Policy explains when and how you can obtain a refund for purchases of the Schreibly service ("Service"), operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [COUNTRY]. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Merchant of Record
Purchases of the Service are sold and processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Refunds are processed by Paddle on our instruction or under Paddle's buyer terms. Payments may appear on your statement under Paddle or a related descriptor.
2. Statutory right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
2.1 If you are a consumer in the EU, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases made at a distance.
2.2 Digital content and services delivered immediately. The Service is supplied digitally and is available for use immediately after purchase. At checkout you may be asked to expressly request that supply begins immediately and to acknowledge that, by doing so, you lose your right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed (for a word pack, once the purchased words have been used) — or, for partial use, that a proportionate amount may be charged for the part already supplied.
2.3 Where the right of withdrawal still applies, you may withdraw within 14 days of purchase by contacting us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. We will refund eligible amounts without undue delay.
Review note: the exact wording of the withdrawal notice and the consent checkbox at checkout must be confirmed by your lawyer and reflected in the Paddle checkout configuration.
3. Word packs
3.1 A word pack is eligible for a full refund if it is requested within [REFUND WINDOW — e.g. 14] days of purchase and no words from your balance have been used since that purchase.
3.2 If words have been used, the pack is treated as a digital service that has been partly performed. A refund, if any, will be reduced to reflect the words already used, or may not be available, as permitted by law.
3.3 Word packs that have expired (Section 5) are not refundable.
4. Subscriptions
4.1 You may cancel a subscription at any time through the customer portal (provided by Paddle) or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future renewals.
4.2 Unless required by law, payments already made for the current billing period are not refunded on cancellation; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
4.3 The statutory withdrawal right in Section 2 also applies to the first subscription payment, subject to the immediate-supply rules described there.
5. Expired words
Words that are not used before their validity period ends expire and are forfeited, as described in the Terms of Service. Expired words have no monetary value and are not refundable.
6. Problems with the Service
If the Service did not work as described due to a fault on our side, contact us — you may be entitled to a remedy or refund under applicable consumer law. This is in addition to, and not limited by, the rest of this policy.
7. How to request a refund
Send a request to [CONTACT EMAIL] with your account email and the purchase reference (from your Paddle receipt). We aim to respond within [RESPONSE TIME — e.g. 5 business days]. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via Paddle.
8. Discretionary refunds
We may, at our discretion, grant refunds outside this policy as a goodwill gesture. Doing so once does not oblige us to do so again.
9. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first so we can resolve it. Initiating a chargeback without contacting us may lead to suspension of your account while the dispute is investigated.
