Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to your use of the Schreibly service (the "Service") operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [COUNTRY]. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Purpose
The Service exists to help people write better. This policy sets out the use we expect and the use we will not allow, so that the Service remains useful, lawful, and safe for everyone.
2. What you must not do
You must not use the Service to:
- break any law applicable to you or to us, or to plan to do so;
- submit content that you do not have the right to submit, or that infringes the intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
- submit content that promotes or facilitates violence, terrorism, or the sexual exploitation or abuse of children;
- harass, defame, or threaten any person, or process personal data of others without a lawful basis;
- attempt to identify, profile, or de-anonymise individuals from content;
- generate, refine, or distribute disinformation, fraudulent material, spam, or content designed to deceive (for example phishing, fake reviews, fake academic submissions in breach of an institution's rules);
- circumvent technical limits, rate limits, security mechanisms, or access controls;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, except under a written authorisation from us (see [SECURITY CONTACT EMAIL]);
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service except where this right cannot be lawfully limited;
- use automated means (scrapers, bots) to access the Service except through the documented clients and API, and within published rate limits;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service without our written agreement;
- share a single individual account between multiple people, or buy on behalf of an organisation without authority to do so.
3. Specific restrictions on AI-generated suggestions
The Service uses AI to generate suggestions. You must not knowingly rely on the Service for outputs that require professional review for accuracy (for example legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, safety-critical engineering), without obtaining that review.
4. Content you submit
You are responsible for the content you submit. You confirm that you have the right to submit it. We do not pre-moderate user content; we may, however, suspend processing where we reasonably believe a submission violates this AUP or applicable law.
5. Security and abuse reporting
If you believe the Service is being used in violation of this AUP, or you have found a security issue, contact us at [SECURITY/ABUSE CONTACT EMAIL]. Please give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate before public disclosure.
6. Enforcement
We may, where we reasonably believe this AUP has been breached:
- refuse, suspend, or remove specific content or requests;
- limit or pause your access to the Service;
- suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, depending on severity;
- cooperate with law enforcement, where required by law or a valid court order.
We will, where practicable and lawful, give notice and an opportunity to remedy before terminating.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice.
