Getting started

This page walks you through your first Schreibly check.

1. Sign up or sign in

Create an account on the web app. The free tier gives you 500 words per day with no credit card. You can buy a word pack or take a subscription whenever you need more — see Pricing.

2. Pick your variant

Choose one of the five regional variants:

en-GB — British English
en-US — American English
de-DE — Germany Standard German
de-AT — Austrian Standard German
de-CH — Swiss Standard German (always ss, never ß)

You can change the variant per document later.

3. Install the browser extension (optional)

For real-time checking on sites you already use (email, docs, CMS editors), install the extension from /extensions. The extension reads from your account, so your variant and writing profile follow you.

4. Write

Type in the web app, or any site where the extension is active. Issues are underlined inline. Hover (or tap) to see the explanation and suggested fix; click to accept.

5. Set a writing profile

Profiles tune the suggestions for formality (Sie/du, formal/informal), domain (business, academic, casual), and tone. Each document can have its own profile — your contract style won't bleed into your casual emails.
